When didyou first start CrossFit? June 2018
Tell usabout your sports & fitness background. I played softball as a kid, but quit as a teenager. As an adult I had a long streak there where I ran for exercise (okay, jogged…),and we did cardio kickboxing prior to CrossFit. Anytime I tried a gym, I wasnever consistent, didn’t push myself, and had trouble figuring out what to do…
How didyou first get into CrossFit? How did it go? The kickboxing place shut down suddenly, and myhusband, Mark, said he really wanted to try CrossFit. We had a few friends(Ryan and Ashley Lewis and Christi Wyatt) who had been trying to get us tocome, and I kept making excuses why we couldn’t (it’s too hard, we’re too old,it’s too expensive, etc.)
What sortof changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since startingCrossFit? I haven’tseen a big move on the scale, but I can tell my body is changing because of myclothes. I’ve dropped a size, and I just overall feel better, both mentally andphysically. And I believe being in better shape helped me recover faster frommy shoulder surgery.
Whatimpact has CrossFit had on your life? Exercise has become a priority in my life. I schedule thingsaround workouts, where before I would use any excuse to NOT exercise. I’ve evenstopped skipping workouts that look hard…because let’s face it, they’re allhard (lol). But now I enjoy the challenge, instead of dread it. Best of all, wehave become part of a great community of people!
What isyour advice for people getting started or thinking about starting CrossFit? Don’t sell yourself short. You aredefinitely stronger than you think. And you will feel so good when you finallydo a move you never thought you could (hello, box jumps!)
What areyour hobbies, interests, and other talents outside of CrossFit? Drinking wine and just generally beingawesome. Oh, and reading really long historical fiction books…
What’s the wallpaper of your phone? John 14:1 – “Don’t let your heart be troubled”
